About Camp Coletrain Pop-Ups

Camp Coletrain Pop-Ups bring immersive, community-driven music education beyond our flagship camp in Buena Vista and directly into festivals, events, and communities.
Led by professional musicians and veteran educators, each Pop-Up is designed around the people and place we’re serving. Programs can range from hands-on instrument exploration for young children to workshops for youth, teens, and adults, collaborative jams, artist-led learning experiences, and opportunities to make music together.
Our restored 1972 VW bus often comes along for the ride, loaded with instruments and transformed into a welcoming home base for exploration, creativity, and connection. But the heart of every Pop-Up is what happens around it: people picking up instruments, trying something new, learning from exceptional musicians, and making music with others.
From intimate workshops to multi-day festival programs, Camp Coletrain Pop-Ups give partners a flexible way to make meaningful music education part of their event while helping us expand access to the kinds of experiences that can be harder to find in rural and mountain communities.

Instrument Exploration
Pick it up. Make some noise.
Our collection of string and percussion instruments gives curious hands the chance to touch, strum, pick, bow, and explore. Professional musicians and educators are there to guide the experience and help participants discover an instrument that sparks their interest.
Workshops + Jams
Learn something. Then play together.
From introductory mini-lessons and family jams to artist-led workshops for teens and adults, we create welcoming opportunities for people of different ages and experience levels to learn, collaborate, and make music together.
Creative Exploration

Our Pop-Ups can include creative art stations, musical activities, and our cozy Book Nook, giving younger festival-goers different ways to explore music, creativity, and the artists who inspire them.
